Rent burst onto Broadway in 1996, picking up a swag of awards by Jonathan Larson including a Pulitzer Prize and four Tony Awards.

This modern spin on Puccini's opera La Boheme tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive in the wildly bohemian days of New York in the early 1990s. Set against a background of drug addiction, homophobia and the AIDS epidemic, Rent uses exuberant, high-energy music to explore the underlying message that love can prevail despite all odds.
